My web site isn't working - how can I tell if it is the balancer or the site that is going wrong?

The quickest way to check this is to try accessing one of the back-end machines directly, and ensuring that they are working independently of the load balancer (remember that your back-end machines may not be visible externally, so check from a machine on the local network).
